Creme and Coal in the afternoon

Despite the horrible quality of these pictures, this could possibly be my favorite on my blog so far. I ended up wearing this out with Michael last Saturday for our little night out. Ending it with a lovely trip to Gypsy Den downtown to see a couple bands perform in their always cozy atmosphere.
(blouse- alloy, skirt- f21, booties- bamboo, tights- ebay)
And the Florence blouse is back (as I coined it earlier). I just love it too much! The creme color, the flowy shape and tie- it's perfection. Mm and these booties so comfortable! Now today I must finish up on my Halloween costume, which only emphasizes how much of a nerd I am by the way. I feel so silly wearing it, so I'll see if I'll end up showing it to you guys later on!
What are your plans for this Halloween weekend, dolls? ♥

Featured Blogger: Bethany from Snakes Nest

You have no idea how delighted I am to introduce you all to Bethany from her blog, Snakes Nest. When I first met path's with her blog, I was blown away by the beautiful photography in her posts. I realized she is much more than just a gorgeous doe-eyed doll with great style, but a truly lovely and talented person. Just from the few conversations I've had with her, she is such a sweetheart. There's honestly nothing not to love about her! ♥

Give us a little something about yourself. What makes you you?
I'm a teen mom. That really is my life and who I am now, and I wouldn't give it up for anything. My daughter has made me a stronger person and helped me mature and grow in ways I never would have otherwise. So I would say, my daughter completes me :)

What made you initially start blogging? and your favorite thing about it?
I started blogging because my cousin and a few of my friends told me to. They said my life was too crazy not to share with the world haha. I think my favorite part about blogging so far is all of the feedback I get from people all over the world. Its really incredible how many amazing and beautiful people are out there that I wouldn't have even talked to in my life. I love feeling connected and sharing my life with everyone who cares to look. :)

What are some of your passions?
I have passion for life in general. There are so many things that I can do and nothing can stop me, ya know? Right now my passion is in photography, fashion, music, and acting. I just love capturing moments with my camera. I have been writing music since I was 6 and acting since I was 8.

Your photography is stunning! What or who are your favorite subjects?
Thank you so much :) My favorite things to shoot are portraits. My cousin was my favorite subject, but she moved away for college. So now my daughter has been in the spotlight the past couple weeks. Hopefully I can get my sisters to model for me again because there's only so much a one year old can do! haha

What influences and inspires the way you dress and what brought about your interest in fashion?
The way I dress reflects my mood of the day I guess. The Olsen twins have always been my inspirations in fashion. I absolutely love every one of their outfits. They both have different styles and thats perfect because my outfits go from feminine and pretty to edgy and dark.

What item are you lusting after right now?
Right now I really want the MONSTERR Wedges and the CALAH booties by Steve Madden. I love the military style shoe trend! I probably will never have them due to putting every bit of cash away in my savings to travel the world, but its good to dream right?
Sorry for making this so picture heavy, but how could you possibly mind, right? I really hope you enjoyed my featuring Bethany! Don't forget to check out her entire blog, Snakes Nest. You definitely won't regret it! ♥

Simple last minute Halloween costume ideas for the procrasinator in us all

As much as I love the spirit of Halloween, quite honestly, I'm not a fan of those cheap polyester costumes that tend to be way overpriced for their quality. Why go out and buy something that you're bound to only wear once? So I put together a few ideas including pieces you definitely won't want to limit to just Halloween night!

vampire

Vampire
I know Twilight has sadly taken over the traditional image of vampires, so here's a simply bit of homage paid to the originals. Fangs and all, please. Because really, what is a vampire without fangs? To get the full on look, check out Michelle Pham's seductive vampire makeup tutorial. I'd say the best part of this look is that each of these pieces are totally re-wearable!

betty boop

Betty Boop
Go sexy, simple and retro with this iconic cartoon's look! Any hot little red dress will do, and some simple pumps, whether they be black or red will do the trick, probably something you already even have in your closet. Make the look more than complete with Kandee Johnson's Betty Boop makeup tutorial!

black cat

Black Cat
A classic and nothing new to Halloween night, except your look consists of a bit more simplistic fashionista spice.Keep it short and sweet in a fitted black dress, paired with your ready-to-wear black tights, with some black sequins oxfords for some pizazz! Let your mask and lovely face be the main attraction of your costume, customize it by making and decorating your own with what ever materials you wish. Think masquerade kitty!

barbie

Barbie
Growing up, it was almost customary that us girls have at least one Barbie doll in our possession, to dress up, customize, even cut their hair (or maybe that was just me). This familiarity will definitely get you recognized. What's wonderful about this look is that it's extremely budget friendly, since Barbie has so many looks. You can practically pile on anything pink in your wardrobe. And you'll look every bit like the doll you are with Kandee Johnson's Barbie makeup tutorial! Who knows, you may end up with your very own Ken by the end of the night!

A couple cute ideas I spotted elsewhere that I loved were a bushel of grapes, a walking aquarium (wear all blue and stick printed out sea life onto you), Wednesday Addams, Tank girl!

I hope my ideas were of some help to you dolls! Let me know what you think of these ideas. And if you have your own costume planned already, let me know what it is! ♥

Sweetly sensational in darker shades

Now that the temperatures have gotten chillier, I know you lovely fashionistas love to mix it up a bit, adding new elements to your wardrobe to accompany those all-year-around pieces and luscious coats. And what better way to spice up your coats and cardigans with some gorgeous accessories! Now, when, I came across Overstock.com's collection of Handmade Jewelry imported from places such as Nepal, India, and Indonesia, I fell head over heels with the unique beauty and detail of these standout pieces, not to mention, at extremely low prices! Venturing into the other necklaces and pendants that they carry, I came  across the most delightful sterling silver bow pendent at only $7.19. This drawn about your neck under the moon lit sky accompanied with the perfect velvet LBD and Top Shop patterned tights is a look too difficult to pass up, (and definitely any charmer your way wouldn't dare pass up either)! ♥

Get back on track

You can finally really see the color of my hair for once! Yay for extremely early morning shots, aside from them being taken extremely early in the morning of course. Since I had no patience for doing my hair that early before class (a frequency of mine), I opted for some makeup, specifically this Just Bitten Lip Stain from Revlon in Gothic. It's truly a lovely color, and definitely helps avoid smudging. Oh the dreaded lipstick on teeth. Yes, none of that.

( dress- vintage from rock paper vintage, denim shirt- thrifted, shoes- vintage from little ocean annie on etsy)
Now I believe you dolls have seen this dress on me before, but I love it so so much! I adore the pin-up feel it has complimented with the earthy floral pattern. And I have to say, it's just wonderfully flattering. The oversized denim men's shirt is fantastic because it dresses it down so well.

Heard it through the grapevine

Not much to say today. I'm slacking, behind, and disliking this bi-polar weather and the fact that I can't wear my cozy cardigans yet, but aside from that, I love my dream catcher necklace. ♥

Blurred ambition

(tank dress- american apparel, button up- f21, lace bicycle shorts- ebay, sandals- dolce vita)
Obviously from last week when the heat wave was still blasting. Michael was my photographer for the day with the use of my quite impossible camera- hence why this was probably the least blurry of the lot.
Now, this last week was quite a week. (Yes, I am barely referring to the week that occured about 6 days ago.)
On Sunday I rushed into a car at 4 am with my boyfriend and his family for a couple hour drive to Camarillo for his first half marathon. He's an absolute inspiration for going through that, and he did amazing in my opinion!
With this inspiration on the brain, I have dedicated myself to something new. If you dolls hadn't noticed the dailymile gadget I've added to the left side of my blog by now, now you know. It's going to be a daily following of my training for the month as I get closer to the 2010 L.A. Cancer Challenge 5k race I was be competing in on October 31st! If you want to help out, pledge, or even join in for those who are in the L.A. area shoot me an email or check it out their site for the event. The last time I've raced was a bit over a year ago, so wish me luck!  Each one is such a wonderful experience, and you don't need to be a world class to participate. I really recommend checking out some in your area yourselves because not only does it benefit yourself, but goes toward some incredible charities as well. ♥

I know your heart is true

I'm so happy to be able to say that this outfit was from last week and mother nature has decided that she finally wants to make it fall in Southern California.
Life has been awfully busy, but that should be no excuse for my "Turn up the Tunes Tuesday" post to still be at the top of my page all through Wednesday! So many things to catch up on and tell you dolls! But alas, today I must keep it short because sleep is sort of necessary. ♥

"Goonies never say die"

These are a few of my favorite shots from Jeff Luker's collection of shots for Urban Outfitter's men's collection this fall. As if the photographs aren't fantastic enough on their own, they even had some shots taken at Cannon Beach in Portland which is known for the closing scenes of the movie, "The Goonies." You can check out the rest here.
By the way dolls, don't forget to email me your photos by 11:59 pm PST Sunday for your chance to be featured this next week for Photo of the Week!
