Yummy holiday outtakes

The most yummy of them all in my opinion would be the new Jessica Simpson Dany's that I got as a gift. I'm so excited to get some use into them! ♥

tumblrocity

I did it. I started up a tumblr. Fashion, pretty little images, and music, tis' all there. Check it out here.
I was a bit reluctant to give in at first, but the freedom to just post images without the need for explanation makes it fun to say the least.
If you've got one, leave a comment with a link to yours so I can follow! ♥

NYE Party Style: Tied up in Sequins

I am honestly begging any of you all out there to go out and buy this dress, not only because it is an endlessly stunning sea of silvery sequins, but for more selfish reasons as well. So i can wear it vicariously through you! The long sleeved dress has become an obsession of mine, and in this shade of striking beauty, I don't think it could cause me anymore desire than it already has!
Worn with a pair of patterned tights, there's no doubt you will be an eye catcher on this New year's eve! Some skyscraper- high black booties will tie the look together in an effortless way.
With an outfit only celebrity fashionista worthy, why not take a tip off from one of our most iconic fashionistas right now, Kate Moss, for some makeup inspiration. A nude lip and a sexy, eased smokey eye with the help of a Two Faced eye palette (which I swear by!) accompanied by a relaxed updo or messy, loose tresses, and you'll pull off a look that could be iconic in itself!  ♥

This look is all about the blazer! To keep this sparkly piece as the focus, everything else should remain fairly understated to keep it all from looking too overbearing, which is why I chose these two natural colored dresses to pair it with. Depending on the shape of the dress of course, you can go a bit more boyish with stiletto combat boots or more feminine with a pointy pump. Stacked rings will add an extra edge to any outfit and will play up the other pieces.
For makeup, keep the eyes light with just your lush lashes to show for and a natural shimmer on the lid. Contour and highlight your face to bring out those gorgeous features and add a deep red, almost burgundy, matte pout for ultra sultry sexiness!
All that's left is to propose a toast to just how fantastic you look this new year's eve! ♥

Turn up the Tunes Tuesday (NYE edition)

Sing, sing, sing- Benny Goodman
Westside Story- EPonym & Esta
1999- Prince
Maps- Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked- Ida Maria
  Fuck You- Cee Lo Green
Catch Me if you Can- Outasight
See You Later, Alligator- Bill Haley & The Comets
Night by Night- Chromeo
Runabout- Little Dragon
Senorita- Justin Timberlake

My goodness, this will be the last Turn up the Tunes Tuesday of 2010! For that reason, I decided to make this list up beat and fun, with tunes from the 1930's all the way to '10. Don't judge my including Justin Timberlake! I had to. Guilty pleasure, (along with *Nsync) always and forever.

Now, tell me, dolls, what were your favorite can't-get-enough-of listens from this year? ♥

Never going away.

I am truly in love with this ring. Possibly unusually so because I love the person who gave it to me for Christmas. Thanks Michael, it's gorgeous! Another piece that I know will be a daily wear from now on! Looking at this first photo also reminded me that I need to get myself another AA California Trooper nail polish!
(top- american apparel, skirt- gift, thigh highs- sock dreams, shoes- vintage )
He also gifted me with this skirt which I love dearly. He knows me and my liking for florals all too well. I'm not quite sure when I switched shoes between these pictures... or why. The olive pixie boots are definitely favored in this case.

Xmas party success

I decided to take up the responsibility of throwing a Christmas party with the amigos. To be honest, I was extremely nervous something just wasn't going to go right, but it ended up all turning out great! I can very well say all the baking I did the previous day and decorating was well worth it to get everyone together. One mistake I can confirm though: I completely forgot to get pictures of all my baking and setup before it all got eaten! Oh well, that just means more baking!
Much love to you dolls and happy holidays! ♥

One wall room

A fraction of my room and my wall of inspiration. Even though the whole little room is covered in pictures and posters and other objects, i can still legitimately call it a wall of inspiration since it's completely round.
It's been raining nonstop. I'm sort of loving it. Except for Sunday when I was driving to my friend's house and missed so many streets I was supposed to turn down because I couldn't see through my windows.
Leg wear has become my ultimate obsession. Especially during these cooler months. Thigh highs and over the knee socks- I'm all over it. These boots saved me from a practically 3 inch puddle I didn't even realize I stepped in today. Yay for dry, warm feet!

I'm a bit picture happy since my friend, Oscar is temporarily letting me borrow his camera. Finally I'll be able to get a new outfit post in! In between all this preparation and planning for the Christmas Party I'm having at my house on Wednesday of course. Plenty of pictures will be shared from that, I'm sure. Especially with the the black velvet dress I got just for it!
How are you dolls spending your lovely week? ♥

Dreaming of a white christmas

This was my first time ever going to Disneyland around the holidays. I honestly was as ecstatic as a little girl! The decorations especially all down main street were gorgeous, and Sleeping Beauty's castle... as breathtaking as it possibly could be.

My hair got increasingly worse as the night went on and the number of times we went on space mountain increased. Bangs are just an awful idea when it comes to amusement parks...

I couldn't have thanked my friend Cynthia more for bringing me along. She happens to work at Disneyland and they closed the park down to employees and whoever they wanted to bring with them. It's always tons of fun to feel like a kid, shuffling through nearly nonexistent lines and admiring the never ending array of lights.
I'm not going to lie though, the characters in costume still sort of creep me out.  Especially this Tigger who oddly patted and rubbed my back right before this picture was shot. I know they're just people in costume, but regardless. I could very well just be slightly insane though. Yeah, I've gotten that one before.

Now I can't believe it's almost Christmas! How have you been enjoying your holidays so far, dolls? ♥

Holiday Party Style: Retro Spice

Tis' the holiday season and Christmas day is right around the corner as well. As we all know so well, with the holidays are holiday parties! Classes are out and books are stashed away for winter break, now to break out the glam and sparkly pumps. This is going to be my look number one of my series of holiday party style: retro spice! (No, not a play on Spice Girls by the way.) A glamorous red brocade is both so holiday appropriate and deliciously elegant. Paired with a pair of glitterfied pumps, all eyes will be drawn to you for all the right reasons!
Hair and makeup definitely pulls this look all together, and I would say almost makes the look! Do check out Iris of ilovegerardo youtube channel for some gorgeous pin-up hairstyles: this one especially recommended! I personally tried this look out myself and loved the outcome. Add a sexy, red pout and you're ready to dazzle all night long. And for this, having tested it out myself, L'Oreal's new Infallible LipColour will definitely do the job and will last you through all the fun. ♥

Bardot inspired

I found this editorial from Kurv Magazine to be gorgeous, definitely capturing the iconic Brigitte Bardot right down to the styling and the rich colors.

I'm lagging. To the max. I know. Being cameraless at this time is hardly motivating. I think you all can feel me on this. I've been on the grind between finishing up classes this week with finals, tons of baking, and attempting to plan a holiday party-ish thing. Oh and also, finally got myself a job at Ulta! Makeup, hair, and beauty products galore, it's just too good. ♥

Wish List

Here's just a few of the things that I'm madly adoring on my holidays wish list. Truly only a fraction of all the wonderful things out there I could wish for! It's always fun of course to receive, but I honestly look forward to finding gifts for others with hopes that they will genuinely love it. I know the search can be rather tedious and difficult when searching for the one thing that is "just right," so here's some great gifts for dad I came across at Brookstone.com. Gifts and bows aside though, I just love the feel of the holidays. Though we unfortunately don't get snow down her in southern California, I live right down the street from a mall, so the decorations they have surrounding it surely don't let me forget. Having just the right people around is what truly makes it all the more special.

What's making it onto your wish list these holidays? ♥

S'more Cupcakes and baking in boots

S'more Cupcakes

print recipe here

Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus more for the pans
  • 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup nonalkalized cocoa powder (not Dutch-processed)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup milk
Preheat to 350 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Beat the butter at medium speed until smooth, for about 2 minutes. Increase the speed to medium-high and slowly add the sugar. Continue beating until light and smooth, for about 4 minutes. Turn the mixer off and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Add the cocoa powder and vanilla and beat at medium speed for 1 minute more. (Stop the machine and scrape down the sides of the bowl again, if needed.) With the mixer running at medium-low speed, add the eggs, one at a time, beating for 1 minute between each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Combine the water and milk in a saucepan and bring just to a boil. Remove from the heat.
With the mixer at low speed, add the flour mixture, about a 1/4 cup at a time. Carefully pour the hot liquid into the batter. Remove the bowl from the mixer and, using a large rubber spatula, finish combining the batter until smooth. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Lightly drop each pan onto the counter to settle the batter. Pour batter into paper lined cupcake baking pan.

Set the pans on the middle rack in the oven. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool the cupakes, in the pans, on a rack for 10 minutes.

    Frosting:

    • 2 cups  mini marshmallows
    • 4 oz  semi-sweet chocolate
    • 1/4 cup  milk
    • 1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
    • 1 Tbsp.  unsweetened cocoa powder
Cook 1 cup of marshmallows, chocolate and milk in large saucepan on low heat until marshmallows and chocolate are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring constantly. Pour into large bowl and cool for 30 min.

Whisk Cool Whip into marshmallow mixture; spread onto cupcakes.

Top the cupcakes with remaining marshmallows. I also added some crushed dark chocolate to the top of mine and a graham cracker to the top to make sure it authentically represented as a s'more cupcake. Add onto it however you please. ♥
And yes, I did all this baking while looking absolutely ridiculous in combat boots and a pale yellow floral apron. Hardly something to brag about, but hey, to each their own! ♥
