Under way

My new film camera I am beyond excited to use! So far I've taken a few shots while I took a visit to the Orange Circle a couple weeks ago with my friend Brenda. All those wonderful antique stores are truly photogenic!
I've been lacking in the post department. Work and life have been keeping me busy. I'm happy to be reading again this summer though. I'm well into my current novel, Everything Changes, by Jonathan Tropper, a favorite of mine.
Also laziness has struck me like no other recently. I do have a fantastic baking post in store for you all though! Your taste buds will thank me later. ;)

Have a wonderful start to the week, loves! ♥
Also, don't forget to put in your entries for the Towne & Reese giveaway!

Woody Allen swag

Since I'm pretty darn close to blind and was in desperate need of some new glasses, I was ecstatic when I came across BonLook's selection! They carry quite a few vintage inspired frames, which I love. After searching through them all I finally narrowed them down to these Simply Fabulous frames! This is honestly the first time I can honestly say I love my prescription glasses!
If you follow me on twitter, you've probably already seen these guys I have sitting on my face. I feel this certain Woody Allen vibe when I wear them. I'm not going to lie, I dig it.
(shirt- american apparel, pants- h&m, loafers- vintage from Myriad of Mischief on Etsy)
And I'm beyond happy to say that the little trick I mentioned in my previous post did work on my loafers! Plus a little wearing around the house, and they were good to go and definitely comfortable.
Things have been going so well for me this week! I am beyond grateful. I just got a new car earlier this week so now I can actually get around without making people my temporary taxi. Of course, with that comes so much more responsibility, but I think it's about time I take that on anyways. I feel a little bit more grown up now. (:
Just a little though.
Have yourselves a spectacular weekend! ♥

Outfit Favorites & Inspiration

I had such a difficult time limiting the amount of outfits to post this week! That's why there is a whole eight rather than the usual six. I just couldn't not feature Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky's new spectacular do! It is legitimately mind blowing amazing. And someone please tell Bethany from Snakes Nest that she should not be allowed to look that good as if she just got caught by the paparazzi while bragging a coffee. And Vanessa from The Velvet Bird's handmade, sweet ivory dress is perfection and actually up for sale here in her Etsy shop. Even more spectacular, 20% of all sales go to Love146.org to fight and prevent human trafficking in the U.S.

Have a spectacular week, loves! ♥

A new dawn, a new day

What I wore to work today. Only a 4 hour shift, but goodness, time definitely did NOT fly. A friend from work commented on how I looked saying, "You look so..." And then he stopped. You can't possibly leave a statement like the completely open ended! So he just said "different." Not much better, but I suppose this is somewhat different from what I normally wear. I'm thinking a good different? haha

 (necklace- alloy, skirt-modcloth, top- f21, sandals-uo?)
I got this black velvet skirt from the ModCloth cabin fever sale a while back, and I can't believe this is the first appearance it's made on the blog. I lovee it. There is nothing as effortless and amazing as a maxi skirt or dress done right.

And lastly my focus fail photo. I was trying to show off my Black Flag button, but no, my camera disagreed on the matter apparently.
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! ♥

Oh, you!

Thought I would share some photos of randomocity with you lovelies, mainly of recent purchases, like my new glittery flats! I truly love when I get items in the mail, especially vintage, and it turns out to fit me perfectly, because honestly, you never really know! That was the case with this polka dot dress I came across--now I just need to get my lazy butt around to hemming it. The brown loafers I also found off of Myriad of Mischief's terrific Etsy shop are exactly what I've been looking for for ages, and though they do fit quite snug, I'm definitely going to take to them this super helpful trick I came across thanks to Julie from Mint and Mellow! And lastly, another mediocre outfit shot. High waisted shorts make everything better. I have no doubt in that statement. Especially when they come in red. I love these!
Oh, oh, and what is this? Officially 300 followers! Muah to all you lovely readers! Thank you bunches for sticking around and reading my blog. You are ze best. Giveaway for this little milestone coming soon. xxxx

Reggae Fest

Just thought I'd share some photos from the weekend before last. UCLA JazzReggae Fest! It was definitely worth it. I mean, sure, not the greatest festival ever, but for the price, it's pretty good. The line up was fantastic and the whole thing in general was chill, though I will say I was a bit disappointed in the alloted time for each performer, especially Talib Kweli, who was at the top of my list of seeing perform, though only did one song.

Out of all the performances though, Little Dragon always wins me over. Yukimi is just too cute and amazingly talented with such a unique look. Agh, I love her to pieces. Her energy just blows me away. You bet Olivia and I made sure to get right in front  to get the best view!
Oh, and what made it all even better--actually meeting and chilling with the incredible Miss Marz Lovejoy. That's her in that last picture. She's such a real person. Do check out her music! I know I've posted up plenty of her stuff in the past. It's just so good! She is pure talent.

Towne & Reese

This is what I like to call my mediocre outfit posts. But you know, it's completely okay because of the wonderful jewelry I have to accompany it! Recently I was sent these two wonderful necklaces from Towne & Reese, Christi Pack and Jessica Stanfield's line of timeless and superbly designed jewelry. Each of their peices  are definitely unique and just so pretty in general. If my ears weren't so gosh darn sensitive to practically everything I definitely would have opted for some earrings for myself. And honestly, for the prices that these pieces are at, it's incredible, especially with the fantastic quality.
Oh, and of course, the back story behind Town & Reese makes it all even better, founded as a collaboration between two friends. Towne & Reese was actually named after the founders's daughters, Towne and Reese. Even cuter, each piece you will find in their collection is named after the daughter of a friend.
If I had a better camera I would definitely show you just how pretty some of the details are on the smaller necklace, but this silly little digital just didn't seem to want to focus. If you did want to take a closer look, it's this one. I just love it! Especially when layering with another necklace of my own because of its longer length.

On a side note, my hair has been so awkward lately. I've been attempting to part it closer to the middle because of my odd bangs, but I'm still not so sure how I feel about it. I think this calls for a whole hair post on it's own!

Now I'm off for a wonderful day. Enjoy your weekends, loves! ♥

In the Kitchen: Coconut Cookies

So this--this little recipe here--I had to share. It is super quick and equally delicious in all its chewiness. After a little conversation and coconut rant via twitter with the ever-amazing Miss Fi from Previously Owned, I just had to make these again and share, because with my coconut obsession, this quite possibly could be one of my favorite cookies. And how wrong would it be if I didn't share my favorite cookie recipe??

coconut COOKIES:

INGREDIENTS

yields about 36 cookies
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 cups shredded coconut

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Prepare cookie sheets with foil.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
In a separate bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together until smooth.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Gradually  blend in the flour mixture. Lastly, mix in the coconut.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. Bake for about 12 minutes.

Enjoy! (Especially you, Fi!)

Okay, and honestly, why are cookies and desserts so photogenic? They make it so difficult not to overload recipe posts with images! And since we are on the topic of baking, I thought I'd let you all know I changed my name to Ina. Yup.
