Saved by the wedge

I forgot about this post. It has been sitting as a draft among my posts for some time now. Neglected. Oh, poor thing. No but really, the outfit really is forgettable--even fairly plain if you ask me. But goodness, these shoes! Love, love, and adore them! The wooden wedge is just fantastic. So, yeah, that was the entire point of this post really--to show them off.
Otherwise, I am beyond ready for the weekend, which will be filled with tons of cupcake baking for a family member's baby shower. Also, because it means it's that much closer to my trip to Vegas!

Have a wonderful weekend! ♥

Stellar

“This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. I created imagery that showcased this cosmic birth through the use of dust and reflective confetti to create galaxies. The models organic bodily expressions as they are frozen in time between the particles suggest their celestial creation. In addition, space and time is heightened by the use of three-dimensional animated gifs. Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time.” – Ignacio Torres
I thought the whole of this project was beyond brilliant, not only in the imagery itself, but in the way it is portrayed and what exactly Torres wanted to express. Sure, the concept may be deemed a bit controversial in respects to people's views on creation, but to an extent, I believe that even then, one can appreciate this for it's creative matter.
xx

Scalloped lace and pattern array

(bustier- vintage, skirt- f21, shoes- kimichi blue)
A quick shot before I went out on Saturday. The rest came out ultra blurry, thus why this would be the only one. Took a trip down to Newport Beach with a friend, indulged in some "illegal" photography, and enjoyed the atmosphere at a great little place called Alta Coffee Shop, lastly dropped by the theaters for some late night 3D viewing. It was a great day to say the least.
I've been awful with putting together these posts. Dreadful, really. I MUST get back on track. There's so many things that I need to get done! Ah, but it's so nice outside to be cooped up!

Hope you loves had a wonderful weekend as well! ♥ xx

Film adventures

I was so excited when I got my prints last week using my first roll with my new Minolta. Granted, I'm still getting the hang of it, but I personally like how they came out. I thought I'd take the time to share some of them with you. The first one is my absolute favorite!
When I'm going through film, I'm often quite selective with my shots, but ranging from this wonderful little new French cafe/ bakery down the street from me, Pat'a Chou, and the ever-so-lovely antique setups at the Orange Circle, they all provided me with more than enough subjects for my photos. I have higher expectations for my next roll though since this was the tester!

Little Bitty Pretty One

It's always fun to look back at all your outfit posts and see the variation in them. Especially with mine, I feel like it really ranges. One look I don't feel I try out as much as I would like to is this sort of done up pin up look. Have I told you how obsessed I am with pin up style? Probably a few dozen times. Yes, most likely. The point must be reinforced. I've also become fairly obsessed with these sorts of bustier tops. I fully intend on owning a heavy handful of them. I've gladly found myself two so far. The black once I've been dying to try out!

My friend called me last minute to join a group of them for dinner tonight. To say the least, I felt well overdressed for Pizza Hut. But that's one of those moments where I'm like, you know what, I don't even care.     And when it comes down to it, no one else really cares either so why fuss?
I had a bit of baking and good talk with my friend Brenda as well today. Wonderful, much needed talk and fresh baked cookies and tea. Amazing! Though it always makes me a bit sad knowing she goes back to New York for school in Cornell during the school year, her company is always amazing.
Hope you're all having a fantastic week! ♥

Orange Circle

Apparently my name is now Olga, according to my cousin, due to my hair. I've accepted it as I take it as a compliment, having mastered the milkmaid braids! Plus, having my hair out of the way turned out to be a   brilliant idea that day, because, goodness, it was so muggy! Muggy is such an odd word isn't it? haha

My cousin, Deanna, and I decided to get ourselves out of the house and take a trip to the Orange Circle with the full intention of picking up some cupcakes from The Perfect Circle Cupcakery, featured on the show Cupcake Wars on the Food Network. Unfortunately we were turned away by a sign on the door that said, "closed due to filming." So we opted for some Starbucks (not once has my name been spelled correctly) and some downright delicious curly fries and BLTs! It was a retro sort of diner, with a jukebox to top it off, so of course, I had to put on a bit of Bill Haley.

And yes, here is my personal attempt at flying.
Well, off to work I go.
Hope you're all having a spectacular weekend! ♥

In the summer sun I can't reveal

The title is thanks to all the Miami Horror I have been bumping recently in my car. I will never get over them and especially their album Illumination.
With a great lack of inspiration of things to do in Orange County other than eat, Luis and I took a drive down to Newport Beach just to walk around. It really was a gorgeous day!

And of course, in either of these pictures I manage to look terribly awkward. Of course.
And Luis with his ginger fro. haha
And flowers for me. (:

Hope you all are enjoying your week! ♥

False alarm

Okay guys, so, I should apologize for the confusion and alarm and false excitement in advance. These photos are recent, and thus, would mean my hair is not really pink. Le sigh. Though in all honesty, I kind of wish it was! So yes, it was a wig. The idea of wearing a wig probably would never have occurred to me if it weren't for the lovely Miss Kaelah from Little Chief Honeybee. That girl is brilliant and has honestly influenced me in such a positive way! She's definitely given me the courage to be true to myself and love myself even more.
For example, a few months back I would have never, ever considered wearing a wig. And do you know what I did the day I got that pink wig? Other than send some of you into a bit of shock, I actually wore it out to a cafe with my friend, Brenda. I got plenty of odd stares, sure, but I felt confident regardless. That's the only way to pull anything off, with your head held high!
(dress- vintage, peep toes- urban outfitters)

And loving myself more goes even beyond just having more confidence, but my body as well. I have always been very self-conscious about my body. I never completely liked it. I would sit and think and pick at every little flaw. I hated my curves. I despised the fact that I just couldn't be super tiny like all the fashion models out there no matter how hard I tried. But as cheesy as this may sound, after getting involved in this lovely blogging community more, I have learned to love my body and be proud of it. There's so many variations of beautiful people, it's endless! And I absolutely love that.
Have yourselves an absolutely wonderful weekend, loves! ♥
