Just a detour

I didn't quite realize how long of a while it had been since I had last posted.  Silly me, getting caught up in my everyday things. 

Since last posting, I also finished my Hemingway novel some time ago. I genuinely liked it a lot. I wish it weren't over, really. I love charming novels with grounded characters- something you can relate to, even the humor, despite having been written in the 20s. A timeless book- that is incredible to come by.

I want to move onto another Hemingway work, but I'm taking a short detour with Going After Cacciato. I'm glad to have gotten back into the swing of reading. It makes me happy.

Now, if only I could get back into the swing of running... but that's a whole other story.

A space In my dreams

 

What I would do for a cozy, gorgeous space like this. Lovely sun lit rooms and white walls that reflect even more comforting light. Muted tones and spurts of color- from shoe displays to novel binding- each small element adds a touch of charm.
I've taken a great liking to looking at home inspiration recently. If you haven't heard about it quite yet, you should certainly check apartmenttherapy.com. There are all these wonderful home DIYs and innovative decorating ideas, such as this Tree Branch Lamp DIY. It really makes me so anxious to have my own place to decorate and try all these ideas out!

Curious Kitty blouse and faux leather skirt

I'm just going to get straight to it. I am head over heels in love with this blouse. It has a bow, it's light pink, and, I mean, you can see the close up picture yourself-- look at that print! If it wasn't currently sold out, I would recommend getting it. Thank you to sugarlipsapparel.com for that!
Since the blouse is rather girly I had fun pairing it with this faux leather pleated skirt from H&M.
Unfortunately, I was informed that it was too short to wear to work. Oh well.
I've missed reading. Looking back at older posts of mine, I noticed a difference in my writing. It was better. And I realized, at the time, I was reading book after book. More recently, I just haven't created the time to do so. I decided to change that.Today I took up The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway. I've gotten a decent chunk into it once for the past couple years, but I never get through it because I end up having to return it or something along those lines. This time I'm determined to finish! It really is such a brilliant novel!
Okay, and these Very Mary Kate videos, I die.

Hi, how ya doin'?
Don't have much to talk about quite honestly. Not that nothing has been going on. A lot has. I'm just drawing  a blank.
I did want to share a little something my accounting professor mentioned just the other day in class. He brought up how not every one is meant to be an A student. If we're not meant to be that A student, we shouldn't kill our selves over trying to be something we're not. Just like some people are meant to be doctors and thoroughly enjoy their demanding, high paying jobs. That sort of thing isn't for everyone. We should do whatever makes us happy, even if that won't lead us to the most wealthy of lives. And you know, I feel just that way. I want to live comfortably and independently, but I could do without all the extra bells and whistles and acres. I want to succeed at what I want to do, but a happy, simple living with someone I love is all I really need in the end. He's a pretty insightful old dude when he goes off on those tangents of his.
Also, I can't wait to show off the dress I got from the Banana Republic Mad Men collection to you all! It's so darn pretty. Soon enough my sugar beans.
